What You Can Do for Your High Bounce Rate on Your Blog

By Jonathan Spears

When you're in the blogging world and trying to make an impression on your target audience, you have to understand that creating a successful blog is not just about putting up new posts. There's a lot more that goes into making a blog sticky in its own way. What you want is a low bounce rate and not a high one, and that means your blog is sticky and life is good. Before you can positively impact your bounce rate, you first have to learn what your options are.

One of the mistakes that you need to avoid at all costs is publishing content that has been copied from somewhere. One thing you will do if you violate that tenet is ruin your reputation online with your niche. Your readers aren't going to hang out for too long on your blog if they find content they can find elsewhere. You have to be unique in your approach and see to it that your blog's not lacking as far as the original content is concerned.

The basic rule of business anywhere and especially online is never make things complicated for people. If you do, then your readers will obviously have to go through a waiting period to download the file. Audiences can be different, but in general you want to avoid annoying your readers. Instead, host the file on your own server or you can also use the Amazon S3 service for your needs. Convenience is the operative word here, and that is something that will help with people.

Make getting around your blog very easy for your visitors, and this points to ease of navigation. The reason for doing this is similar to all else in that you want the experience to be positive. You can use smart linking, but just be sure you are not trying to get too fancy. What will happen with smooth navigation is you will not encourage people to leave for that reason, alone. If people look at your blog and it looks confusing, then you know what comes next.

As you can see, we have only touched on a couple of items, here, and there are more methods available. Do not forget about browser load times, and that can be adversely effected if you have a ton of plugins. Not only can you have an impact on bounce rate, but all else will follow suit. So go ahead and put the above tips into action right away and see for yourself how it makes a difference to your blog.
