Stop Snoring! Read On To Sleep Quietly At Night

By Silas Anthony

If you want to know what it takes to get rid of some of the snoring that you do while you sleep then this article is for you. Use all of the following information in order to change the way you sleep so that no one around you becomes annoyed by unwanted noise.

Try sleeping on your side if you snore. Your tendency to snore can be affected by your sleep position. If you always sleep on your back, your throat muscles will be more likely to snap shut as they relax. This will cause you to snore, since air cannot pass through as easily. Try switching to sleeping on your side in order to correct this.

If you enjoy that bowl of ice cream for dessert but you want to stop your snoring habits, its time to stop eating ice cream before bed. Ice cream and other dairy products can promote snoring due to the fact that they create more mucus. Make sure to avoid any dairy before bed.

Elevating the head of your bed can be a simple fix to a snoring problem. This maneuver can take enough pressure off your neck to stop the snoring. You need to elevate your entire upper body for this to be effective, however, not just your head. Try placing cement blocks under the legs of the head of your bed to accomplish this.

Lose some weight if you want to stop snoring. Losing weight will significantly increase your ability to pass air through your air passageway. Being overweight can cause the space in this air passageway to narrow, and that will cause snoring that will disturb both you and your family.

It is important to lose weight if you want to snore less at night. The more you weigh, the more pressure there is on your airway. If there is a lot of pressure on the airway, it will cause it to collapse slightly which will then lead to the loud, booming snoring that annoys and irritates everyone who can hear it while they are trying to sleep.

Reduce your snoring by elevating your body while you sleep. To do this, simply use pillows to raise your upper body and raise your bed post with blocks. Sleeping in a horizontal manner can put pressure on the body's airway, causing snoring when you breathe in your sleep. Elevating the body removes this added pressure and makes it easier for you to breathe, thus eliminating snoring.

Purchase nasal strips that help keep your nasal passages open at night. The strips are applied to your skin across the bridge of your nose. If you can breathe easily through your nose, then you will probably keep your mouth shut at night. Breathing through an open mouth is one of the biggest causes of snoring.

As you have now learned from this article there is a lot you can do to get rid of the snoring you do while you sleep. As long as you learn to do what it takes to get rid of your snoring and apply that information to the best of your ability you should have no problem getting rid of it.
