Rams RB Todd Gurley 'still a ways away from practicing' Posted: 04 Jun 2015 10:02 PM PDT Rams' rookie running back Todd Gurley is still recovering from ACL surgery. He has been doing limited work on the side but that's about it. He's still reportedly "still a ways away from practicing". However, this is still progress. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It still remains to be seen if Gurley will start the season on the PUP list. His upside is infinite, however, it's a huge risk if he's eased back into the lineup after Week 6. He's by far the top rookie in dynasty drafts, however, there are questions in redrafts. Melvin Gordon can even T.J. Yeldon may be better options for this season. Nonetheless, long-term Gurley will be a star. He could come on strong late for a playoff run. |
Ravens TE Dennis Pitta is running and catching in individual drills Posted: 04 Jun 2015 09:26 PM PDT After a second major hip surgery in as many years, Dennis Pitta is back on the field. He is running routes and catching passes in individual drills. He is not yet medically cleared to participate in team drills. His head coach Jim Harbaugh is not counting him out. quot;Dennis is out there for about half the practice and he's doing a good job, too," Harbaugh said. "So, we're not counting him out at all." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Pitta is getting closer and closer to getting back on the field. The big question when he returns will be if he can stay healthy. He is just too big a risk right now to use a valuable draft pick on. If he comes back and produces, he has the upside to be the best TE on the team. Pitta is worth monitoring and could be a waiver wire gem on a team with no proven tight end. |

Redskins WR Jamison Crowder involved in some sort of domestic incident Posted: 04 Jun 2015 08:43 PM PDT Redskins' rookie wideout Jamison Crowder was accused of being involved in a domestic incident. He was accused on his Instagram page but there are very few details. Crowder has denied the accusations and claimed they were a result of his Instagram account being hacked. The Redskins released a statement on the matter: quot; The Washington Redskins are aware of an off-field situation involving Jamison Crowder. We have been in touch with the NFL office and will continue to follow proper League protocol and assist them in any way we can to gather all of the facts. We will not be making any further comment at this time." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Obviously if this turns out to be something, Crowder's future is in doubt. As of now Crowder has not been charged and even the accusations have not been confirmed. We will have to just wait and see what happens here. This is a strange situation and we'll have to let it play out. He is a sleeper for the time being and I love him in dynasty leagues. |

Titans WR Justin Hunter lining up in the slot at times at OTAs Posted: 04 Jun 2015 02:44 PM PDT Titans' wideout Justin Hunter has been lining up in the slot a bit at OTAs. His head coach Ken Whisenhunt explained that there are a number of reasons for the decision. quot; It's positional," Whisenhunt said. "It's not necessarily 'you're the slot,' it's 'sometimes your position lines up in the slot.' It's a way of keeping tabs of who's going where (on defense), but more importantly it makes defenses have to prepare for different looks. Sometimes you do it for matchups. Let's say for instance (Darrelle) Revis is a guy matching up on somebody. You put (that guy) outside, you put him inside, you get an idea of it's man coverage if he's moving with him. Sometimes it's designed to get an idea or a read on what a defense is doing." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Justin Hunter is ultra-talented but has also vastly underachieved. It remains to be seen if Hunter can even keep a starting job this season. The hamstring injury from Dorial Green-Beckham really benefits Hunter. Only because DGB is so raw that missing OTAs really hurts him. Harry Douglas is more productive than Hunter and could make Hunter a late-round flier at best. His value is very low this season. |
The Cowboys would like to get a long-tern deal done with WR Dez Bryant before July 15 deadline Posted: 04 Jun 2015 02:27 PM PDT According to Cowboys' executive vice president Stephen Jones, the team would like to get a long-term deal done with franchise tagged receiver Dez Bryant. The team has until July 15 to get a deal done. "We know he will be a Cowboy this year," Jones said. "If he ends up playing this year under the tag we will go right back to work again next year. Now would we like to get a long term deal on him? Of course we would. We'll work hard to do that and I'm sure we'll make a push at some point and see if we can make it work. If not, hopefully he will understand it's difficult to make a deal at this point and he'll come in and get ready to play." FANTASY ANALYSIS: It would be good to see Bryant get a deal done. He is a bit unstable and it's hard to determine if he'll be disgruntled otherwise and if it will affect his performance on the field. Bryant is a no doubt elite WR1. He is arguably the best red zone target in the NFL and I've seen him go as high as the top receiver in some leagues this season. He's the WR2 according to his ADP. That's a bit high being that he's ahead of Antonio Brown, however, he should be in the top five. |
Redskins WR Pierre Garcon moves from the left side to the right side Posted: 04 Jun 2015 02:12 PM PDT Redskins' wideout Pierre Garcon has been moved from the X position to the Z. That means he goes from the left side of the formation to the right side. This is believed to be in an effort to get Garcon the ball more this season. In 2013, he had 113 receptions, that number dropped to 68 last season. Garcon is not as good a fit In Jay Gruden's system as he was in Mike Shanahan's. Nonetheless, he's too talented to not utilize. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Garcon is a tough player to judge. He burned a lot of fantasy owners last season but he's far too good to ignore. He has proven in the past that he can be a top tier receiver. The Haitian Sensation could produce as well as a high-end WR2 or barely be a flex option. Currently Garcon is being drafted as the 57th WR off the board. That is fantastic value. Don't be afraid to reach and draft his as a WR4. |
Redskins TE Niles Paul 'bulked up' this offseason Posted: 04 Jun 2015 01:48 PM PDT Redskins' tight end Niles Paul has "bulked up" this offseason in an attempt to be "a more effective blocker" according to head coach Jay Gruden. He reportedly looks "noticeably bigger". This should keep him healthy, which the team desperately needs him to be. Jordan Reed is hurt again and has already had a procedure on his knee since OTAs started. With Reed on the shelf as usual, Paul steps into the starting role. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Paul is definitely a better option than Reed this season. While Reed is very talented, he just can't stay healthy. Paul is a steal right now as he is not even being drafted in most leagues according to his ADP. He has proven he can be a successful fantasy option when Reed is on the sidelines. In two seasons, Reed has already missed 12 games. Pass on Reed and draft Paul late as your TE2. |
