Bears WR Brandon Marshall misses another practice Thursday

Posted: 25 Sep 2014 12:39 PM PDT

Brandon Marshall missed practice again Thursday with an ankle issue. Marshall suffered the injury in Week 1 but managed to play through it for two consecutive weeks. In Week 2, he caught three touchdown passes, but in Week 3, Marshall aggravated the injury and managed just one catch for 6 yards. He will likely be listed as questionable on the Bears' final injury report tomorrow. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This doesn't sound good for Marshall at all. He had to leave the Bears' Week 3 game for several minutes after reinjuring the ankle, and he didn't seem able to run or cut well after he returned. That showed up in his stat line. With Alshon Jeffery seemingly back at 100 percent, don't be surprised if the Bears hold Marshall out of Week 4. At this point, fantasy owners should pencil Marshall out of their starting lineups and have a backup option ready. If Marshall is unable to go against the Packers, Jeffery's value would get a slight bump up this week.

Buccaneers RB Doug Martin says he's '100 percent'

Posted: 25 Sep 2014 12:27 PM PDT

Doug Martin told reporters Thursday that he's quot;100 percent" and expects to play Week 4. Martin was held out of the Bucs' last two games due to a knee injury but returned to full practice this week. With Martin out, Bobby Rainey carried the rushing load for the team. When Martin returns, the two backs will likely split carries. On Sunday, the Bucs face a Steelers team that has allowed 130 rushing yards per game through the first three weeks. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It's always encouraging to hear a player say that he's at full strength, but the better sign is that Martin has been practicing fully this week. He was close to playing last Thursday night, so he looks like a good bet in Week 4. But Martin's fantasy value will be limited by the presence of Rainey as they will likely see close to an even split of the carries. Martin is a decent RB2 play this weekend, but the lack of volume may hold down his fantasy value in the future.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles expected to play versus Patriots

Posted: 25 Sep 2014 12:20 PM PDT

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he expects Jamaal Charles to play against the Patriots on Monday night. Charles was officially limited in practice Thursday. Charles was a game-time scratch for Kansas City's Week 3 matchup against the Dolphins. If he is unable to play, backup RB Knile Davis will likely carry the load again for the Chiefs. FANTASY ANALYSIS: When asked if Charles would play, Reid said fairly bluntly, quot;Yeah, I think so." Charles was apparently close to taking the field in Week 3, so he seems like a good bet to play Monday. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his practice participation Friday and Saturday to make sure he avoids setbacks, but the signs look promising. Despite a slow start to 2014, Charles is still a must-start when he's on the field.

Redskins WR DeSean Jackson expected to play Thursday night

Posted: 25 Sep 2014 12:03 PM PDT

DeSean Jackson is expected to play in the Redskins' Thursday night matchup against the Giants. Jackson has been dealing with a sprained shoulder but was able to play in Week 3 versus the Eagles. Jackson managed five catches for 117 yards and a touchdown against his former club. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Most of Jackson's Week 3 production came on an 81-yard touchdown reception. While Jackson has always been a home-run hitter from a fantasy perspective, he looks somewhat like a feast-or-famine option at this point in the season. Last week, Redskins QB Kirk Cousins showed strong chemistry with Pierre Garcon, who should be considered the primary receiving option in this offense with Jackson as the WR2 and deep-ball specialist. Jackson's a low-end WR2 in fantasy, but his owners may need a big play to get the production solid from him.
