Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill will start Sunday

Posted: 24 Sep 2014 07:34 AM PDT

Ryan Tannehill will start for the Dolphins again on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Jeff Darlington. This follows a Monday report that the Dolphins' coaching staff had met with Tannehill to discuss his starting role. Tannehill took every rep with the first team offense at practice on Tuesday. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Tannehill's on the hot seat, but will still be the starter for Miami on Sunday. He's struggled through three games, completing just 70 of 124 attempts (56.5 percent) for 624 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He's also had two fumbles, and has been sacked nine times. Tannehill should not be owned in fantasy except in two-QB leagues, and even there he's a mediocre play at best. He'll try to turn things around this weekend against a Raiders defense that's easier to run on than to throw against. So far the Raiders have allowed just 183.3 passing yards per game in 2014.

Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno aiming for Week 6 return

Posted: 24 Sep 2014 07:20 AM PDT

Knowshon Moreno is targeting the Dolphins' Week 6 matchup with the Packers as his return date, following a dislocated elbow suffered in Week 2. Moreno's original timetable put his recovery at four to eight weeks, and a Week 6 return would put him at the very early end of that estimate. In Moreno's absence, RB Lamar Miller has carried the load for the Dolphins, racking up 132 total yards on 19 touches in Week 3. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Moreno will almost certainly be out Week 4 and Week 5, and should be considered uncertain at best for Week 6. While it's encouraging to hear that he's making good enough progress in his recovery to be considering the Packers game for a return, he's by no means guaranteed to make it back that week. Miller has performed well in Moreno's stead, and when Moreno returns, it seems likely that the two backs will find themselves with an even workload split. This week, with Moreno out and the Dolphins matching up against the terrible Raiders defense, Miller is a very solid RB2 in fantasy.

Redskins TE Jordan Reed out for Week 4, doubtful for Week 5

Posted: 24 Sep 2014 07:08 AM PDT

Jordan Reed will not be playing in the Redskins' Thursday night game in Week 4, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post via Twitter. Additionally, Jones said that Reed quot;sounded sketchy" about his availability for the Redskins' Week 5 Monday night game versus the Seahawks. Reed has been out since Week 1 with a hamstring pull. In his stead, Redskins TE Niles Paul has accumulated 18 catches for 253 yards and a touchdown. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Those still hanging on to Reed will have to wait at least another week, and possibly two, before he starts producing fantasy numbers again. Meanwhile Niles Paul has been playing like one of the top TEs in fantasy. At this point it's very difficult to project Reed's return to the Redskins' lineup, and he's easily droppable in standard one-TE formats. Reed is a solid talent, but he's not elite, and with the bye weeks beginning in Week 4, it's likely that he'll be finding his way to free agency in many fantasy leagues.
