Redskins RB Matt Jones sprains AC joint in shoulder Posted: 20 Aug 2016 03:44 AM PDT Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones went down hard on his left shoulder Friday night and was forced out of the game with what could have been a severe injury. He was later diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, which is one of the best possible options for him. His preseason is likely over, however, there is a decent chance he is ready for Week 1. Head coach Jay Gruden does not believe he'll be sidelined for long. "I don't think it'll be a long injury," Gruden said. "(It's a) slight separation of his AC joint." FANTASY ANALYSIS: The Redskins do not have a particularly strong RB corps, so this shouldn't significantly change how you draft Jones. While this does open the door for an opportunity for another back to take his job or at least earn carries, Jones is likely locked in as the starter regardless. How he progresses health wise is worth monitoring. As of now we cautiously expect him to be on the field Week 1. If anything changes we will be sure to keep you updated. If anything the impact of this injury when drafting should be a tie breaker if you're stuck between him and another player, nothing more. We at SCOUT Fantasy currently have Jones ranked as the RB27 while our SCOUT League players are drafting him as the RB23. |
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott impresses again Posted: 20 Aug 2016 03:26 AM PDT Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Dak Prescott had another incredible outing on Friday night against the Miami Dolphins. The rookie lit it up in both of his preseason performances. Through two games he has gone 22 of 27 for 338 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Prescott has locked up the backup job in Dallas and most likely a future starting job as well. Cowboys owner Jerry ones was already confident enough in Prescott to stop searching for another backup prior to his second preseason performance. "He is a long way from Canton, a long way from Canton," Jones said . "But it was certainly a great start. It was just good to see the coaching staff and everybody get behind the promise of what he might be able to be as a player hellip; I wouldn't consider a backup quarterback situation at all. I wouldn't want to, by any way, deter the progress and the excitement that he can bring to the building of the team and the future." FANTASY ANALYSIS: The hype train is in full force for Prescott now. He's climbing up the ranks in dynasty leagues rapidly and is even starting to garner some consideration in redrafts. Considering Tony Romo's fragility and age, it makes sense. Especially if you want to grab him as a handcuff of sorts for Romo in deeper leagues. SCOUT Fantasy vice president Scott Atkins actually has bumped Prescott up to the QB25 spot on his rankings. Yes, it's only preseason, but at the same time, those kinds of numbers can't be ignored no matter who you are facing or what time of year it is. This kid is on the rise and a future star. |
