| Chargers WR Keenan Allen injured, sits out practice Posted: 06 Aug 2016 06:05 PM PDT San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen was forced to sit out most of the team's FanFest, a full-pad practice and fan-friendly event open to the public. He was seen on the bench with his shoe off and his left ankle amp; foot heavily taped. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Teams are more than happy to take every single precaution at this time of year. Even the slightest ache, sprain or tweak will merit what Fantasy fans should consider to be an overreaction. While Allen does have a well-known, injury-riddled history, this does add to the growing list of Chargers injuries at the wide receiver position. Stevie Johnson is supposed to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Travis Benjamin is also resting and missing practices. San Diego is so thin at wideout, they signed former Green Bay WR James Jones. That seems like a bit much to me, but they obviously need to get healthy. Until firm news comes out to suggest Allen is even remotely questionable for Week 1, continue to draft him with the utmost confidence. He is a beast and just needs 16 games to really prove it. |
| Lions TE Eric Ebron carted off with Achilles' injury Posted: 06 Aug 2016 04:37 PM PDT Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron went down in training camp grabbing at the back of his leg. He was unable to put any pressure on the leg and it's believed to be an Achilles' injury. They were forced to cart the blossoming third-year tight end off the field with what NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is calling a potentially quot;devastating" injury. The extent of the injury is not yet fully known, however, we will keep you updated. If the Achilles is torn, his season will likely be over. The general feel around Lions camp is not positive. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This would be awful news for the Lions, who were really depending on Ebron being a top contributor in the passing attack this season. They are already reeling from the loss of Calvin Johnson and trying piece things back together. To make matters worse, their TEs corps is ravaged with injuries already. Brandon Pettigrew is currently on the PUP list with an ACL injury and Tim Wright is also on injured reserve with an ACL injury of his own. If this is a long-term injury, it will be very tough for the Lions' offense to recover from the loss. Recently signed veteran Anquan Boldin may see a huge increase in targets as a possession receiver that moves the chains for their offense. Theo Riddick could also see a larger role in the passing attack now. This is will damage Matthew Stafford's already sinking value significantly though. Marvin Jones is likely the undisputed second option in the passing attack now. |
