Posted: 18 Jul 2015 12:13 AM PDT The Jaguars released third-year wideout Ace Sanders today. Sanders showed promise as a rookie catching 51 passes in 15 games, however, things really spiraled for him after that. In 2014 the Jags drafted both Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee in the second round of the NFL Draft and also added undrafted free agent Allen Hurns. Not long after, Sanders was suspended for the first-four games of the 2014 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Sanders struggled to work his way back into the passing game and today his days in Jacksonville came to an abrupt end. He was having a quot;very good" offseason according to head coach Gus Bradley. Nonetheless, the Jags have a plethora of young talent at the WR position. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This may be best for Sanders if he can catch on with another team. He was destined to be buried on a suddenly deep depth chart in Jacksonville. For him to have any kind of fantasy impact he will most likely have to earn a role as a returner and have his role expanded from there. He did show some potential as a gadget player and slot guy in 2013. Sanders has next to no fantasy value this season. Depending on where he winds up, he may be worth monitoring on the waiver wire.
Free agent RB Chris Johnson healthy and ready to play Posted: 17 Jul 2015 11:46 PM PDT Free-agent running back Chris Johnson is now fully recovered after being shot in the shoulder early this offseason. Johnson was the victim of a drive-by shooting in Orlando that left his friend dead. Now he says he's back in prime shape and he's ready to roll for the season. "I ended up gaining all my weight back and getting even heavier," Johnson said. "I got up to 207 pounds and then throughout that just working out and wanting to be right at 200 ndash; I ended up working it back down to get right at 200. Right now, it's just sitting and grinding and working out. I'm just ready to see where my next situation is going to be and making sure it's going to be the right situation." FANTASY ANALYSIS: There are a ton of question marks surrounding CJ2K. Does he have anything left in the tank? Where is the right situation for him? After averaging 4.3 yards per carry last season and actually running pretty well on film, I believe he can still be a productive back in the NFL. When you ask, where is the right situation? I think is everybody will have the same answer, which is 'Well, he's better than Darren McFadden …' If Johnson was to land in Dallas, he'd be an immediate upgrade over McFadden and could compete with Joseph Randle. If he signed with the Cowboys tomorrow his ADP would be shockingly high. It won't necessarily happen, however, it would be intriguing.

Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has slimmed down to 222 pounds this offseason Posted: 17 Jul 2015 06:21 PM PDT Demaryius Thomas is now under contract and ready for training camp. He may appear to be noticeably slimmer once he gets on the field. Thomas, who usually weighs in at 229 pounds, has cut his weight to 222 pounds. That's lighter than he was coming out of Georgia Tech. He says he's looking to play faster this season. quot;I'm fit," Thomas said. "I think I'm a little faster. I think I'll play at a smaller weight this year, see how it goes." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Losing weight in the offseason is almost always a good thing. It usually represents hard work and a rededication to their craft. This is probably the case with Thomas as well, although, there is one concern in his case. Loss of weight could also mean a loss of muscle. Hopefully he hasn't been slacking in the weight room while he's away from the team and just lost muscle. If his weight balloons back up and he has a slow start to his season, we may have our answer. Either way, he should be drafted as a WR1, somewhere outside of the top five.

Free agent WR Reggie Wayne says 'teams have been calling and he plans to play this season' Posted: 17 Jul 2015 05:21 PM PDT Long-time Colts wideout Reggie Wayne is yet to sign with a team this offseason but says "teams have been calling" and he fully intends to play this season. Wayne will turn 37 in November and has suffered serious injuries in each of the past two seasons. He tore his ACL in 2014, then tore his triceps last season. He wants to return so he can end his Hall of Fame caliber career the way he wants to. The free agent WR spoke about his potential return. quot; It's weird 'cause this is one of my best years as far as being in the best shape that I've been in a while," Wayne said. "It's coming along great … I want to finish how I know I can finish." FANTASY ANALYSIS: It's hard not to like Wayne. He's an all-time great receiver and a very classy guy. The former Miami Hurricane represents everything right about the NFL. However, it is tough to sell a reason to draft him this season. It will be good to see him give it a go and there is an outside chance he can emerge as solid waiver wire pick up as an emergency flex start. That's pretty much his ceiling though.

Jets WR Brandon Marshall says New York will be his last stop Posted: 17 Jul 2015 02:21 PM PDT The Jets acquired Brandon Marshall from the Bears this offseason. He signed a three-year deal with the team and is now 31 years old. Responding to a question on Twitter, Marshall emphatically declared that the Jets are the last NFL team he'll ever play for. quot; After Jets, I'm done," Marshall tweeted. "If I'm cut tomorrow, I'll retire. This will be my last team." FANTASY ANALYSIS: This is all well and good but if Marshall was cut tomorrow he'd probably sign with the Bills or Patriots in about five minutes. That tends to be the trend in the AFC East. With that said, he won't be cut and is a very interesting fantasy option this season. While the Jets' QB situation is horrifying, Marshall has enormous upside. According to his ADP there are 27 wideouts being drafted ahead of him. He has immense talent and has proven time and time again that he's more than capable of putting up WR1 production. If you can grab him that late, he's a steal.
