Bengals WR Marvin Jones says all his injury issues are now behind him

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 11:13 PM PDT

Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones was set to emerge as reliable fantasy option last season after catching 10 touchdowns in 2013. Unfortunately he missed the entire season due to ankle and foot injuries. The good news is Jones now says the injuries are no longer a factor moving forward. "We looked at it, got it fixed, and it's not there anymore," said Jones. "It was an unfortunate situation, but it's behind me hellip; Once I'm out there and I know I'm good -- nothing structurally is wrong, nothing is going to happen – I just go out there and flow. It hasn't been a problem." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Jones is currently being drafted as the WR66. He should be an outstanding value pick this season as players coming off injury often are. He hasn't gotten any worse since the last time we saw him. People just tend to forget about players that missed a full season with an injury. Jones should be way better than a WR7. It wouldn't be a shock at all to see him emerge as a flex option with major upside due to his presence in the end zone. Don't be afraid to reach for him a bit this year, there's no way he should be going that late.

Eagles QB Sam Bradford plans to play out the final year of his contract

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 10:59 PM PDT

Sam Bradford reportedly plans to play out the final year of his contract this season. He is not looking for a long-term extension. Bradford is virtually betting on himself. Coming off two straight torn ACLs, he doesn't have a ton of value right now. If he can stay healthy and Chip Kelly's offense inflates his numbers, he could be in for a major pay day. If Bradford gets injured again this season, it could be a disaster, however, his logic is sound and it's good to see him rolling the dice on himself. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Bradford is very difficult to trust. The guy can't stay healthy. Still, he may be worth a pick at his current ADP. He's being drafted as the QB20 and has an abundance of upside in the Eagles' offense. If healthy, he has the potential to emerge as a serviceable QB2 with QB1 upside. He'll also be a hot commodity in DFS leagues. People do love Eagles fantasy players so you may see him being overdrafted in some leagues.

Broncos WR Cody Latimer is 'a lot better now'

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 10:43 PM PDT

Everyone around Broncos camp has been raving about second-year wideout Cody Latimer. It started when he went to work out with Peyton Manning at Duke University. Emmanuel Sanders also sang his praises and spoke about his improvement calling him a "special player". Now new head coach Gary Kubiak is doing much of the same. quot;I'm really excited about what he can bring and I know he's a lot better now than when he started," Kubiak said. "I'm excited moving forward." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Latimer is expected to make a big jump this season. The issue is, this may not be the same offense that has produced fantasy star after fantasy star since Manning took over as the starting QB. It's hard to tell how much value the WR3 on the Broncos will have this season. He's currently being drafted as the WR52, which is decent value. He has upside, however, he could also be a complete flop. Latimer pretty much comes down to personal preference or hoping for an injury.

The latest on Titans WR Justin Hunter's arrest

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 08:18 PM PDT

Justin Hunter turned himself into the authorities after a warrant was put out for his arrest. The warrant stems from a July 3 incident at the Sandbar Raw Bar in Virginia Beach. He is currently being held without bond in a Virginia Beach jail and is set to be arraigned on Tuesday. He is being charged with felonious assault. If any more details emerge, we will keep you posted. FANTASY ANALYSIS: With no account of the actual incident yet, it's hard to come to a concrete conclusion, however, this looks bad. Hunter will almost certainly be on paid leave from the Titans and could even end up being waived. The athletic receiver has been a major disappointment in his first two seasons. The team may just cut their losses if they decide he is not worth the trouble. Rookie Dorial Green-Beckham would be the biggest beneficiary if Hunter was to miss any time, which is not yet a certainty.

Titans WR Justin Hunter arrested in Virginia Beach late last night

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 08:03 PM PDT

Titans' wideout Justin Hunter was arrested at 12:10 a.m. on Monday July 20 in Virginia Beach. Details are very limited at the moment, however, what we do know does not sound good. According to the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office website, the charges are "malicious intent, stabbing, cutting, wounding". He is also listed as "not bondable". We will keep you posted as details emerge. FANTASY ANALYSIS: We really don't know enough to speculate on the arrest itself. Nonetheless, what we can say is that if Hunter is forced to miss anytime it could result in a major boost for rookie Dorial Green-Beckham. He is very gifted but very raw. Still, with an already terrible WR corps, the Titans would likely have to rely on DGB without Hunter as an option. For now we will have to wait for more details to emerge.

Chargers WR Malcom Floyd 'still has gas in the tank'

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 07:12 PM PDT

Despite the fact that Malcom Floyd will be 34 years old when the Chargers kick off the 2015 season, he is still a major factor in the offense. After suffering a career-threatening neck injury in 2013, Floyd produced the best fantasy numbers of his career in 2014. He is a reliable deep threat with great height (6'5) and wheels. His WRs coach Fred Graves makes it clear that Floyd is a leader and playmaker for the Chargers. "Everybody looks up to him," Graves said. "Everybody looks at him and says, well, he is in his mid-30s, but Malcom can still run. There are not many guys in this league who average 17 yards per catch, so he still has gas in the tank. He loves the game, and he was very successful coming off the injury last year. This year he wants to do the same." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Floyd will likely be the top deep threat in San Diego again this year, although, Jacoby Jones will likely chip in as well. He is coming off a rare healthy season. As a matter of fact, it's only the second time in 10 years that he has been healthy for all 16 games. Floyd has boom-or-bust upside and is going undrafted in the majority of leagues according to his lack of ADP. He may be worth a late-round flier if he can put a similar stat line to last season (52-856-6). Health is a major factor though.

Broncos WR Jordan Taylor stood out during OTAs

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 06:54 PM PDT

Following this year's draft, the Broncos signed undrafted free agent Jordan Taylor out of Rice. He dealt with some nagging injuries this offseason, however, he made a "massive impression" when he was on the field. Multiple players and coaches in camp had good things to say about Taylor, including Peyton Manning. quot;He catches everything around him and he's gone up and made a couple plays on some deep balls, which have stood out," Manning said. FANTASY ANALYSIS: The Broncos' official website goes as far to say that he "could be one of the breakout rookies of this year's class". While that seems like a bit much to say the least, he may be worth a look in dynasty leagues. He reportedly has great chemistry with Brock Osweiler, who will most likely be the starting QB by the time that Taylor is able to have any kind of fantasy impact. As for this year, it's extremely unlikely he becomes fantasy relevant.

Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders will play in the slot in three-receiver sets

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 06:23 PM PDT

Broncos' wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is expected to play in the slot more this season. He is familiar with the slot from his days in Pittsburgh. However, he played on the outside a lot more last season. Sanders has now confirmed that he will be moving to the slot this season when the team comes out in three-receiver formations. quot; When we go into our three-wide receiver package, I am going to move into the slot, which I'm very comfortable doing because I played the slot in Pittsburgh and a lot in college," Sanders said. "I'm looking forward to that." FANTASY ANALYSIS: This should not have a huge impact on Sanders. It may improve his PPR value a bit but drop his yardage. It should just about balance out in the end. Sanders is still an excellent receiver and Peyton Manning is better than the majority of the QBs in the league. Sanders is being drafted as the WR19 according to his current ADP. This is very fair value. If Sanders drops that far, his upside is immense. Even with an aging Manning and a potential run-heavy offense.

Cardinals WR John Brown stood out this offseason

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 06:05 PM PDT

We have heard nothing but great thinks about Cardinals second-year wideout John Brown this offseason. He has added 10 pounds of muscle to bulk up and improve his conditioning. Brown is also living with quarterback Carson Palmer and the two are training together. His head coach Bruce Arians even compared him to Marvin Harrison. This trend continues as Tyrann Mathieu named him as quot;a young player who really stood out in the offseason program". Mathieu along with Brown were named as players "making the leap" in 2015 by NFL.com as well. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Based on what we're hearing out of Cardinals camp, Brown is already Hall of Fame bound. While this is an obvious exaggeration, there is a reason why he's garnering so much praise. Perhaps he can emerge as a fantasy star this season or at least a consistent flex option. He's currently being drafted as the WR44, one spot ahead of teammate Larry Fitzgerald. If the hype is real, Brown will be a steal. Odds are the hype and reality will probably meet somewhere in the middle.

Texans will not sign free agent WR Reggie Wayne

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 04:20 PM PDT

Of the four teams that were reportedly interested in Reggie Wayne two have now denied any interest. The Texans reportedly will not pursue the 36-year-old veteran. The Ravens also denied any intent to sign the former Colts wideout. It appears Wayne's options are becoming more limited by the hour. We will have to wait and see how this shakes out. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This now limits Wayne's potential suitors down to two teams based on the original report. The remaining teams are the Patriots and Packers. New England seems like a much more logical destination for all parties involved. The Pats have a less than stellar WR corps and a healthy Wayne could potentially contribute. The Patriots give Wayne an opportunity to both win and earn snaps. Still, we're a long ways away from any deal getting done.

Chargers WR Jacoby Jones to be an added deep threat

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 03:11 PM PDT

The Chargers lack a true deep threat in their WR corps. They added former Ravens' speedster Jacoby Jones to help remedy that issue. Entering the season with a 34-year-old Malcom Floyd as the primary deep threat was not going to work. Jones will add a lot to this offense with his speed and ability to make plays after the catch. Chargers WRs coach Fred Graves raved about Jones saying, "He gives us another guy who can go deep. Last year we had Malcom Floyd, but now we have two guys like that. We can put them on either side, and he is another physical guy, but obviously his run after the catch ability is the big thing." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Jones isn't being drafted at all so he does not have an ADP. However, he could be a sneaky good high-upside play this season. Jones is a potential late-round flier candidate or at least a player to monitor on the waiver wire. He may hold more value as a cheap option in DFS leagues. He will also have value in leagues that award points for return yards. In the end it all really comes down to how the Chargers decide to utilize him.

Ravens not interested in free agent WR Reggie Wayne

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 02:34 PM PDT

According to sources the Ravens are not interested in free agent wideout Reggie Wayne. This contradicts a recent report that they were one of four teams interested in the former Colts WR. Despite having next to nothing after 36-year-old Smith, the Ravens reportedly do not wish to add the veteran receiver. They could still add another wide receiver before the start of the season. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This narrows down Wayne's potential options to three teams. The remaining teams that may be interested in his services are now the Packers, Patriots and Texans. The Texans may offer him the greatest opportunity for snaps. On the other hand, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady may be able to get the most out of Wayne. Plus, it's not like the Pats' WR corps is blowing anyone away. For now we will just have to wait and see.

Titans RB Bishop Sankey 'the odds-on favorite' to start Week 1

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 02:08 PM PDT

Titans' second-year running back Bishop Sankey is reportedly quot;the odds-on favorite" to begin the season as the starting back. If for nothing else, just the fact that he has a full year under his belt makes him the top candidate. The Titans also added rookie RB David Cobb this offseason. He is a popular pick to take over the lead-back job at some point this season. Antonio Andrews is also in the mix for backup duties. Dexter McCluster is expected to have a role but he's little more than a specialist. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It does not take long for always impatient fantasy owners to give up on someone. Sankey has already seen his ADP drop him to the RB42 this season, which is just two spots above Cobb. After just one subpar season Sankey has gone from the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year to an RB5. One of these backs could emerge as a potential flex option. Personally I prefer Cobb. He's a bigger back that can run downhill. Sankey really needs to refine his game to retain his starting job.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen 'picks things up so quickly'

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 01:33 PM PDT

Keenan Allen is expected to be the Chargers WR1. After a breakout rookie season, he disappointed during his rookie campaign. This season he has reportedly rededicated himself and looks great. According to his WRs coach Fred Graves, Allen is picking things up at a rapid pace. "It's impressive," Graves said. "He's a smart guy. He is one of those guys where you always have to give him something else because he picks things up so quickly. In a lot of years I've been coaching, he is (rare) in how he understands things. You can change things without frustrating him." FANTASY ANALYSIS: Allen was overdrafted last season and is now closer to his appropriate ADP. He is currently being drafted as the WR20. His ADP is still a little high for my liking. There are guys like Jarvis Landry, Jeremy Maclin and Allen Robinson among others going not far behind him, who have more value. If he falls to the low-end WR3 range, he will have a lot more value. Even veterans like Andre Johnson and Brandon Marshall may be better one-year options.

Giants RB Shane Vereen could end up on the field more than expected

Posted: 20 Jul 2015 12:59 PM PDT

It is safe to assume Shane Vereen will be utilized as a pass-catcher in the Giants' offense. However, the team believes he adds much more than just the ability to catch passes. Not only are the Giants not afraid to hand him the ball, they also love him as their primary pass-protection back. Since losing starting left tackle Will Beatty, they may need to have Vereen on the field more often than expected. The team is expected to use Vereen in a "variety of ways", not just a one-trick pony. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Vereen has the potential to be a PPR monster. He could develop into much more if the oft-injured Rashad Jennings gets injured much like he has in every other season of his career. Vereen has value as being drafted as the RB29. Don't be shocked if he emerges as an excellent flex option this season. Look for him to return back to 2013 form when he caught 47 passes in just eight games.
