Lions want to keep DT Ndamukong Suh

Posted: 05 Jan 2015 10:32 PM PST

The Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been a prodigious key to Detroit's defensive potency. Over 17 weeks of play, Suh has racked up a total of 10.5 sacks. Noting the 28 year old's dominance, head coach Jim Caldwell announced on Monday that one of the team's quot;highest priorities" was to re-sign the 28-year-old lineman. Suh has made clear that while he'd like to stay in Detroit, ultimately he'll go where the money and his agent advise. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Suh's size and honesty are directly porpotional. He wants J.J. Watt money and Detroit doesn't have that sort of cash. It'll be a huge hit to the Lions defense if they lose Suh, but he's likely to field offers from potential suitors during free agency. The four-time Pro Bowler will give any run defense a significant upgrade on the field and a boost in fantasy value.

'Rumblings continue to indicate' WR Dwayne Bowe isn't likely to remain with Chiefs

Posted: 05 Jan 2015 10:10 PM PST

Less than two years ago, the Chiefs signed Dwayne Bowe to a five-year contract worth $56 million. It sounds like they are already regretting that deal. At least, that's what it sounds like Nick Athan of Warpaint Illustrated. quot;Rumblings continue to indicate the #Chiefs might be willing to part with ... WR Dwayne Bowe before [free agency] begins in March!" Athan tweeted Monday. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Bowe has about $30 million left on that deal, including close to $11 million in salary for 2015. Shockingly, the Chiefs don't want to pay a wideout who hasn't scored a touchdown in 367 calendar days $11 million. They will probably approach him about restructuring, but Bowe might welcome a fresh start in a less-conservative offense. Sure, he won't be making as much coin right away, but he could build his market value back up on a one-year "prove it" contract with a quarterback who will actually throw the ball down the field. That would also help Bowe's fantasy stock, which has been in the basement for most of the past three years. He will turn 31 in September. The Chiefs need to restock their receiving corps. However, one player to watch for next season is already in the building: 2014 undrafted rookie Albert Wilson.

Despite fumbles, Colts praise, will stick with RB Dan Herron

Colts third-year running back Dan Herron sat on the bench for short stretches after each of his two fumbles during Sunday's playoff win. But don't expect any further punishment for who it seems head coach Chuck Pagano knows is his best runner. quot; He's gaining confidence," Pagano said of Herron following the beating of the Bengals. "Obviously there's some plays out there that he'd like to have back and you've got to clean up, but that guy's a playmaker. He can create when there's not much there. He's got the ability to to create his own yards and make people miss in space, especially on the checkdowns and things like that in the pass game." Pagano also said he doesn't want to reduce Herron's carries as it might lead to a fall in his self-confidence. Herron took 12 carries for 56 yards and a score against Cincinnati. He also caught a game-high 10 passes for 85 more yards. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Herron's two fumbles -- one lost shortly before halftime that led to a Bengals field goal and another in the fourth quarter that was recovered by Indianapolis -- resulted in more snaps for Zurlon Tipton, but Herron was benched for only a handful of plays before re-entering to continue racking up yardage. Meanwhile, Trent Richardson was present for all of one snap. Richardson came into the game fighting an illness and was listed as questionable on the injury report, but the Colts' offense surely didn't miss him and definitely benefited from the former Buckeye carrying the load. Herron's role shouldn't change this weekend against the Broncos even if Richardson is rid of his sickness.
