Bengals WR A.J. Green downgraded to out for Sunday

Posted: 03 Jan 2015 05:08 PM PST

As expected, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green won't play in Sunday's playoff game versus the Colts. On Saturday, the Bengals made it official. Green ended the week with very little practice time and listed as doubtful on the injury report because of the concussion he sustained during last week's loss to the Steelers. FANTASY ANALYSIS: As I mentioned yesterday, the Bengals really don't have much depth to replace Green, much less replicate his impact. Cincy should hand it off to Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard as often as possible in Indy.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) misses Saturday practice

Posted: 03 Jan 2015 01:37 PM PST

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) did not practice on Saturday. While Green Bay would like to get their star quarterback on the field as soon as possible, head coach Mike McCarthy said he didn't expect Rodgers to get quot;on the practice field till Thursday, probably at the earliest." According to the Associated Press, Rodgers admitted "the calf is slowly progressing" and that he hoped to "get on the field next week." FANTASY ANALYSIS: The 10-year vet is no stranger to the postseason. After all, he led Green Bay to a Super Bowl victory in 2011. While his calf might not be 100 percent by next weekend, Rodgers will absolutely start for the Pack in Week 19. If Rodgers is even slightly hobbled, Coach McCarthy could lean on the running game, giving RB Eddie Lacy's postseason fantasy value an upwards nudge.

Cardinals QB Drew Stanton to have knee examined next week

Posted: 03 Jan 2015 12:51 PM PST

Cardinals QB Drew Stanton suffered sprains to the ACL and MCL in his right knee at St. Louis in Week 15. Initially expected to sit out four weeks, Arizona's backup signal-caller is reportedly scheduled to have the recently scoped knee re-examined this coming week. The Cardinals have yet to win a game since losing Stanton to the injury. Third-string QB Ryan Lindley started opposite the Panthers in the first round of the playoffs. Considered the underdog heading into Saturday's matchup, the Cardinals would like to get Stanton back under center if they're able to advance to the divisional round. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Carolina has been on a four-game winning streak, taking full advantage of an improved offensive line, a healthy Cam Newton, and a renewed Jonathan Stewart. Arizona will have to put the breaks on the Panthers' rushing attack if they want to win this one. Furthermore, Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson will have to step up and shut down rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin. While it's unlikely the Lindley-led Cards will get past Carolina, it's interesting to see them pushing for Stanton to start as soon as possible. Head coach Bruce Arians has done an admirable job hiding the third-stringer, but without a more capable QB under center, the team's chances of advancing are slim.
