Packers WR Jarrett Boykin unlikely to stay in Green Bay Posted: 28 Jan 2015 06:55 PM PST According to a report via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers WR Jarrett Boykin is not expected to return to Green Bay for a fourth season. Set to become a free agent, the 6-foot-2 and 218-pound receiver is unlikely to get an offer from the Pack. Having been plagued by inconsistent hands for the bulk of his career, the 25-year-old wideout began 2014 as the Packers' No. 3 receiver. Rookie Davante Adams overtook the elder WR in the first third of the season, expediting Boykin's imminent departure from Labmeau. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Boykin's absence only further cements Adams as a legitimate piece of the Packers' passing attack. Assuming Green Bay and star wideout Randall Cobb are able to come to an agreement, Adams will remain the team's No. 3 option out wide. |
Bills QB E.J. Manuel may start under new OC Greg Roman Posted: 28 Jan 2015 03:25 PM PST Admitting that he has yet to begin the evaluation process, the Bills' new offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, did offer that he thinks quarterback E.J. Manuel has some quot;good traits," but that the team needs to "get his level of consistency a little greater." Roman then added, "Once we get through this evaluation process, he and every player is going to have a clean slate. What they might have been asked to do in the past is really not relevant to what we may or may not ask them to do." Roman was the offensive coordinator in San Francisco from 2011-14. In that time, he revitalized QB Alex Smith's career and turned QB Colin Kaepernick into one the league's hottest properties under center. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Roman is smart to hedge. There isn't much quarterback talent in this year's draft class, and the options available in free agency are decidedly slim. While Manuel is a very different signal-caller than either Kaep or Smith, he has shown a willingness to be directed. With receivers such as Sammy Watkins and the emerging Robert Woods at his disposal, Manuel might be able to start more than just four regular-season games. That said, Roman will have to get the Florida State product to settle down under pressure and improve his accuracy in order to get him to perform effectively. |
