Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushes 11 times in loss

Posted: 12 Sep 2014 12:20 AM PDT

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a rough night against the Baltimore Ravens, which was evident when Le'Veon Bell only rushed 11 times for 59 yards. The Steelers were behind for most of the game, causing Ben Roethlisberger to drop back 37 times. When he did get his chances, Bell looked as good as he ever has, but the carries weren't there with the offense playing catch-up for most of the night. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Bell saved fantasy owners with his five receptions for 48 yards. It was a bad night for the Steelers as they didn't see a touchdown and had only two field goals. Bell will have another tough matchup against the stingy Carolina Panthers defense next week, but he is a must-start in every format.

Ravens TE Owen Daniels has two-TD performance

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 11:51 PM PDT

In a strange turn of events for the Baltimore Ravens, tight end Owen Daniels was able to grab two touchdowns in Thursday's 26-6 victory. It wasn't a bad game plan for the Ravens considering Daniels stayed under the radar of the Steelers' defense and was uncovered on both end-zone catches. He finished with five receptions for 28 yards. FANTASY ANALYSIS: This helped a handful of people who may have been desperate at tight end and started him, but otherwise, it was a blow to Dennis Pitta owners. This won't be an every-week role as the Ravens exploited certain matchups with the Steelers' defense all night. Feel free to start Pitta next week, and don't rush to the waiver wire to pick up Daniels.

Ravens WR Torrey Smith held to one catch

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 11:40 PM PDT

If the first two games of the Baltimore Ravens' seasons are any indication of how they plan to use Torrey Smith, he may be in trouble. Smith was held to one catch for 10 yards on Thursday night. Last week, he had only three receptions for 50 yards. While it's worth noting that Smith was targeted twice in the end zone on two separate drives, Joe Flacco has clearly looked towards Steve Smith and tight ends Dennis Pitta and Owen Daniels before Torrey. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Torrey Smith may be in for a fantasy downgrade He's the third option in this passing game and has been used as a decoy or a blocker for other receivers. The only hope is that Flacco sticks to his word from earlier this week about how Smith could catch 100 passes this year, but that hasn't been kept yet. It's a situation to monitor, and Smith might be a bench candidate against the Browns in Week 3.

Texans won't scale back RB Arian Foster's workload

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 04:57 PM PDT

Bill O'Brien wasn't lying. The Texans' first-year head coach said during the preseason that he was going to lean on running back Arian Foster. That's what he did in Week 1, and that's what he'll continue to do. quot;He said that all offseason, and (it's) not lip service," Foster said about O'Brien promising to use him as much as possible. "That's what he wants to do." Foster ran the ball 27 times against the Redskins while two other Texans RBs, Jonathan Grimes and Alfred Blue, received a single carry each. Overall, Houston had a 34:22 run-to-pass ratio in its win over the Redskins. Foster finished with 29 total touches and 120 yards. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Of course, this is sort of bittersweet if you own Foster. You love to hear that your guy is going to get the rock over and over again. But Foster also carries a lengthy medical chart and is coming off of back surgery. Sure enough, Foster is listed on the injury report this week with a rib issue, but don't worry; he's practicing in full. O'Brien and his coaches surely understand the risk of what they are doing, but they are going to depend on Foster for as long and as far as he can carry them, especially if they keep winning. If he remains in one piece, Foster can be a top-five fantasy RB. But every week, every carry will raise your blood pressure a bit more. Only 15 more games left.

Bengals WR A.J. Green misses Thursday's practice due to foot injury

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 04:06 PM PDT

The Bengals have already lost Marvin Jones and tight end Tyler Eifert for weeks. But this would be an absolutely crushing blow: Wide receiver A.J. Green didn't practice Thursday. This comes after he was limited during practice on Wednesday. Green supposedly has an injured foot. FANTASY ANALYSIS: There's not a whole lot more to go on here, but Geoff Hobson, the editor of the Bengals' official website, isn't sounding any alarms yet. However, it is slightly concerning that Green went from some practice to none at all in the middle of the week. He'll be one of the top players worth tracking when Friday's practice reports come out. If Green is unable to suit up for a favorable matchup against the Falcons, the Bengals' depleted receiving corps would look to Mohamed Sanu to be its No. 1 WR.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy cleared to play Sunday

Posted: 11 Sep 2014 03:52 PM PDT

The three extra days Eddie Lacy had to recover from his concussion before his next game served him well. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced Thursday that Lacy has been officially cleared to play Sunday against the Jets. Green Bay's star running back went through a full practice in pads today, exactly one week after his concussion in Seattle. FANTASY ANALYSIS: It's all systems go for this fantasy first-rounder. He does have a daunting matchup against the Jets this weekend, but you shouldn't be sitting this stud in Week 2. If you own Lacy, keeping James Starks around as insurance is still a good idea.
