| Giants RB Rashad Jennings scores 73-yard TD in preseason game Posted: 09 Aug 2014 09:34 PM PDT Rashad Jennings took five carries for 85 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' second preseason game Saturday night, including a 73-yard scamper for a score. Jennings' first-quarter touchdown showcased his breakaway speed, as he outran the entire Steelers defense after taking a carry straight up the middle. FANTASY ANALYSIS: Who knew Jennings had that kind of speed? It was a defensive lapse by Pittsburgh, to be sure, but over the final 35 yards of the play, Jennings beat two Steelers secondary players in a foot race. This should push the pendulum back his way a bit, after Giants RB Andre Williams impressed with his performance in the Hall of Fame game. Saturday night, WIlliams took five carries for 35 yards. Jennings figures to get the better end of the committee, work, but Williams looks to be first in line for goal line carries. |
| Jets QB Michael Vick running the Wildcat in camp Posted: 09 Aug 2014 08:53 PM PDT When the New York Jets signed Michael Vick they surely were looking for some quarter back competition to push Geno Smith. Aside from the competition, Vick could also bring a great change-of-pace role to the Jets' offense. Last season the Jets ran the Wildcat formation a league-high 38 times and they also just recently devoted an entire practice period to running the Wildcat. Along with Vick's scrambling ability that he proved to still have in the Jets last preseason game, the veteran quarterback could possibly be used in a specialized role with the formation. FANTASY ANALYSIS: If the Jets use Michael Vick in such a specialized role, he could really showcase what he has left in the tank. However, there is always the injury risk with Vick. If the Jets do choose to use him in the Wildcat they are putting their backup quarterback's health on the line. There is always the possibility Smith plays poorly enough to warrant Vick starting for the Jets and that factor alone would make owning Vick a decent QB2 option. As of now, the veteran is going undrafted in most leagues and it should probably stay that way unless Smith really starts to struggle. |
