Browns RB Terrance West showing signs of great potential Posted: 29 Jul 2014 08:48 AM PDT Terrance West, a third-round draft pick out of Towson University, has been lighting it up at training camp. He's shown great receiving skills out of the backfield, outmaneuvering linebackers in the passing game. Wilbert Montgomery, the running backs coach of the Browns spoke on West, quot;Terrance West has some shades of Brian Westbrook. He can break you down with his right leg. He can break you down with his left leg. He has that Ricky Watters, Walter Payton, lure-you-to-sleep-on-the-sideline move that I can accelerate or play like I'm going to accelerate and come back inside." Montgomery goes onto saying that West is special and has traits he hasn't seen in a while. The rookie running back will look to keep developing his skills and contend for a spot at the starting role. FANTASY ANALYSIS: The Browns running game will be an interesting one this year. Tate has shown great promise, but he's also injury prone. Last year he had many problems including his hamstring, foot, shoulder, elbow, ribs toes and ankles. He finished the season on IR. I feel as though West will eventually usurp the starting position if Tate becomes too banged up during the season. I like West as a late-round pick up with lots of potential in the passing and running game. He is a big back that can beat you with his moves, or run you over. With a current ADP of 88, the rookie running back is going off the board with the likes of Jones-Drew, Bernard Pierce and Fred Jackson. I would confidently stash West as someone who may take over the starting position in the near future. |
Jets RB Chris Ivory favorite for goal-line back Posted: 29 Jul 2014 08:07 AM PDT The running back coach for the New York Jets organization, Anthony Lynn, has said, quot;If we were playing tomorrow, Chris Ivory would be on the goal line." The Jets have one of the most crowded backfields in the NFL with the likes of Chris Johnson, Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory, Alex Green and Daryl Richardson. Ivory is one of the largest backs on the depth chart weighing in at 222 pounds and six feet tall. During his first year stint with the Jets in 2013 the back garnered 833 yards and only three touchdowns, but this year may be different. FANTASY ANALYSIS: If you're looking for a cheap running back who will consistently get the ball, Ivory is your man. In the latter portion of 2013 Ivory turned on the Jets and became the teams' best fantasy producer in terms of yardage. In second-half of the season, Ivory touched the ball at least ten times in six games. I would draft Ivory as a matchup-based back who will get you at least 50 yards and possibly a touchdown every other game. |
