Disabling The Top Sites Home Page In Safari Posted: 09 Sep 2013 12:11 PM PDT Hey, The new version of Safari shows when you open a new tab your “Top Sites” these are usually your most view sites (I hope this is one). This usually means you can access your favourites sites at a click. If you find this annoying you can disable it. The options allows you to change the settings so it is either your homepage, a blank page or the same page when you open a new tab. This is a quick way to customise the way you use your Mac. Changing The Way A New Tab WorksTo access the settings. Open Safari preferences from the the menu bar. On the general tab there is an option half way down that says “New tabs open with”, the same options can be changed for “New windows open with”. As the drop down suggests you can either pick from the Top Sites, you home page, a blank page (which I prefer). The same page means it will open the same page as the one you are viewing when you open a new tab. The bookmarks option will open you bookmarks window. The same one that can be accessed from the Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks from the menu bar. Want to catch up on the latest Tweets about this site, follow me on Twitter.
