Video: Altering Notifications On Your Mac Posted: 03 Sep 2013 01:20 PM PDT Hey, Today we have two new videos on the MacTricksAndTips video channel. They are all about notification centre and altering the way notifications are displayed. The first video is all about setting up notification centre and altering the way messages are displayed. This also includes turning them off a feature which is most commonly used when people look through the settings. The second is a bit more complicated, it is about altering which notifications are displayed within Mail. For example only getting notification centre messages from your contacts. If you enjoy these videos, subscribe to the video channel. You can also like the Facebook page. The first video is on turning off notification centre and altering the notifications. If you can’t watch the video below, you can watch it on Youtube. The second involves setting up notification centre for people you like. You can watch it Youtube if the video below doesn’t play. Open Files In Quicklook Using A Trackpad Gesture Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:45 AM PDT Hey, For those Mac users who have a laptop with a trackpad, or have bought the magic track pad. You can do a myriad of different things with a swipe, swish or finger movement. Most of these are pretty useful, however I have come across by accident a really useful, world changing finger movement that will revolutionise the way you use your Mac. If you hover over a file and three finger tap, it will open this file within quicklook. This is very useful. No longer do you need to open the file within the app to see it, or stretch the millimetres needed to reach the space bar. You can tap away. The three finger tap will also close quicklook. There are some small caveats. For example if you are viewing the desktop you need to have it selected in order for the gesture to work. This is the same within Finder. You can’t, unfortunately open the file within Quicklook without Finder being selected.
