Things To Refrain From Doing While Hunting

By George Dodson

A lot of hunters today prefer to hunt in the season of fall. This activity in addition would require ample time to set up all the required gears as well as the equipment and firearms to be used. There are actually a lot of hunters today who want to do the hunt ahead of others. In most cases, hunters even sleep outdoors just to keep an eye on their prey.

All this means that you need to set up your camp to include the fire, the tent, and all the safety procedures you need such as water to put out the fire.

Along with the things you need to do when setting up a camp and hunting, here are those that you need to avoid.

Do not just build a fire right out there in the middle of your camp. First, you need to dig a hole that is enough for your fire and situate rocks or boulders around it so it won't spread. If you can't put up a camp fire properly then chances are you'll end up with serious problems.

Do not build a campfire without enough water on hand to put it out if it looks like it's getting out of control, or when you intend to leave it alone to go hunting. You should always secure the fire area. It is definitely advisable to have a camp fire since it is a good source of warmth and can also provide a good cooking place. Treat it with respect

There should be absolutely no food left around your camp site. While you're gone, to get that prize trophy deer, other animals in the forest have zeroed in on your campsite. The olfactory senses of such animals are greater than humans. If you leave that food out, it won't be there when you get back. You can simply store your food in a container that no animals can access.

At the end of the day, don't crawl in your sleeping bag immediately. It's warm enough in there, especially in the winter time, that other animals might like to join you. Such animals include snakes, spiders, rodents as well as insects. Get that bag out of the tent and shake it out thoroughly before you retire. This ensures that that peaceful night of sleep that you're looking forward to is not interrupted by some unpleasantness.

Do not bury your garbage in the forest. There are a lot of animals that are able to dig these garbage and will just scatter them in the campsite. You will need to ensure that the camp site is CLAYGO or "clean as you go".

Following these don'ts will guarantee you the best hunting and camping experience.
