| Increase Finder (& Mail) Sidebar Icons Size Posted: 20 May 2013 11:08 AM PDT Hey, Customising your Mac is very easy to customise, however some of the customisation can be quite difficult to find. One of these is the size Finder sidebar icons. The default size may not be to your taste. Editing the size is a simple case of altering the preference setting, the required size change is within System Preferences and not in Finder. This change will also allow you to change the size of Mail’s sidebar icons. Changing Finder’s Sidebar Icon SizeTo change the size of Finder icons within the sidebar open System Preferences. Select the General preference pane. Within this pane you will see a drop down option which says ‘Sidebar Icon Size’. You have three options; small, medium and large. Typically your Mac will be set to medium. Large is quite good at allowing you to see more of the icons. Useful if you find selecting the sidebar options difficult. The small icons make the text smaller as well as the icons themselves. If you have a long list of items, making them smaller will give you more room. Changing Mail’s Sidebar Icon SizeThe sidebar change within System Preferences will also change the size of the icons within Mail. By changing the sidebar icons to small or large, this change will be reflected in Mail. You only have three options, small, medium and large. You should find one that is suitable. I prefer the default medium. Want to catch up on the latest Tweets about this site, follow me on Twitter. |
