How to rock in your vintage style dresses

By Sisi Tsoi

There really is a major benefit to dress in the latest trend at the moment. Because vintage has always been there, this essentially timeless style has proved stunning since the golden age of Hollywood. Why would we want to dress in anything else? If we follow the 'hit of the moment' music artists, we run the risk of looking like a stage performer or a scary vision from family photos in years to come. For guaranteed, demure style, you are sure to impress everyone with the effortless vintage style dresses. From the 20s to the 80s, you will have a fantastic array of different styles to choose from.

But how can we update our look, if we do not want to be go overboard? Perhaps we do not wish to look too much like Michelle Pfeiffer from 'Scarface ', or Joan Crawford with her arched eyebrows and sharpened peplums. We all wish to look feminine and delightful, yet crave to attain a refreshing look.

One element you are able to add to your outfit, and I'll assure you it'd be a sure fire investment for many years to come, would be a well-made leather jacket. For anyone that is a vegan, or a pet lover, going 'vegan leather ' is the very best way for you. So there is no reason for us to shy away from leather jackets then.

Get a well-made leather jacket, either one with a wrap around collar, like a fast motorbike, leather jacket style. Or a double-breasted leather jacket with a zip-up front, to form a powerful look to your silhouette. Even for someone who is petite, a leather jacket of this sort gives you an immediate wide-shouldered look. It will make you appear a lot taller and sexier without showing any flesh.

Pin your hair up in a bun with this leather jacket look, or rub wax into your hair and have your hair messy, creating a 'slept in ' look. You will be stunned at how this look can be so modern and changeless. You can still be a rock chick for several years to come.

I would definitely recommend a second element to update your vintage style dresses - a pair of platform boots. Choose something with maybe 3 inch heels, or you may prefer platform boots, if high heels seem like climbing a high wall! They will be safer for the ankles and kinder to your heels, providing support if you want to add height yet be on trend. These bold accessories would surely add a more modern look to your outfit.
