When Tyler talks of people's materialism he reminds the film narrator about its danger. Items that you own can come to own you. This may be why Tyler loves soapmaking. It is a simple process that creates a useful product. Also, when one is working, the mind does not have to think about problems.

Fighting is an essential element of the movie and it is used to find freedom. Two guys engage in fighting and they leave their titles, money, and hang-ups, behind them. This leaves only two people engaged in a primal struggle and when done, the men are released from inner frustration.

In order to understand the hidden meaning behind Fight Club soap we must take a look at common everyday things. If you let yourself to value the many simple and essential things in life, it can remove your attention from many troubles. Everyday items are real while most problems only exist in the mind. This makes troubles very easy to get rid of, once you see their true point.
