Benefits Of Simultaneous Translation Equipment

By Marcy Becker

There is no one specific language that is spoken throughout the whole world. Different people from different countries and continents speak different languages. During conferences where people have been invited from different countries, communication becomes a problem due to the language barrier. This has led to the development of Simultaneous translation equipment which enables interpretation of one language into a variety of languages.

There are two types of interpretation apparatus that are commonly used. They include the infrared and the Radio frequency. The infrared kind is very useful in areas where the range of transmission is relatively lower. It is also frequently used in places where the FM frequencies are not well regulated hence experience problems during transmission. One of the disadvantages of this kind is that it can only transmit over a limited range. The person also doing the installation needs to have the expertise to install.

The other type, the radio frequency kind is more superior than the infrared. This is because it can transmit over long ranges. The equipment also has different frequencies which may be of use one they have been installed. The installation process is simple and requires a person with basic sound knowledge to do the installation.

In a conference where the attendees speak different languages, the language barrier becomes the greatest challenge to organizers. Different ways have to be designed to ensure that proper communication is not hampered. The above apparatus is thus very useful in interpreting different languages. The headsets that are normally given to attendees have various channels each with a different language. Communication is therefore made easier during the meeting.

The interpretation also occurs instantaneously. This is because as the person giving the speech talks, whatever they speak is translated immediately. This ensures that the attendees are at par with the speaker and that no one is left behind in the process.

Every person attending the conference is normally given a headset that necessitates the interpretation. As the person giving the speech is talking the translation also occurs simultaneously. This saves a lot of time because the one giving the speech does not need to pause so as to give the interpreter time to interpret. Time that would have been wasted waiting for the interpreter is thus eliminated.

Feedback is very important in any type of communication that may be taking place. Normally in most meetings after a speech, there is normally a time for questions and for people to express their views of what they thought about the speech. First since translation occurs instantly everyone is normally at par. Secondly the attendees can ask questions in their own language and it will be translated immediately so that everyone is able to understand.

Simultaneous translation equipment is quite useful especially during conferences. This is because people can communicate easily and understand the proceedings. The available types of equipment can be used depending on the needs of the conference
