The Value Of Arts Effect On Society

By Casandra Newton

It may not ultimately be all that clear why understanding arts effect on society is important. Yet, as you look back over history and you find artists' renderings of what happened through their eyes you notice that it has an impact. Giving form to life's happenings is part of the enduring process.

It does not matter whether you are looking through history or are staring back at the reflection of today. Artistic expression is a form of communication that reaches past the boundaries of words. There is the artist who whispers, and the admirers who shout which makes the whole of the rendering come together perfectly. One single work can express the emotions of tens of thousands or even millions of people over the decades.

The stories that are told in this manner represent all of humanity. Whether the story is of survival, hope, love, loss, or anything in between they root you in connection to the artist. The human stories that are represented can be anything from adoring to fearful, but each makes the right connection. Through this process a relationship develops that links the artist and the viewer together.

Since there are all kinds of various representations, there are also many ways to interpret them. Struggles of humanity are timeless and can be accurately represented through the eyes of the artistic. What brings you for a closer look is the reflection you are seeing of yourself. You can witness the timelessness of these struggles and their resolution regardless of the date of creation.

As a culture images have become the mainstay of everything. Whether tragic or beautiful, the use of pictures, avatars, and all forms of imagery are in every cell phone and smart device. They have become social media's primary posting. Famous works have been redone in pop or deco form to look more modern. The impact that images of artistic expression have had on any culture can be seen today just by noticing the sheer number.

There are those who look at artistic expression as something nice that can be hung on the wall. Others see it as life itself told back to you as you look at it through new eyes every time. When natural disasters threaten the most valuable pieces are moved. In that action alone you can see the priority it takes over other things.

Other people may have a much deeper interest in the work, studies about the work and the artist, and can feel deep emotional connections to each piece. Those with a great sense of artistic value have laid plans to ensure that artwork remains forever. Before a natural disaster there are teams that move the most valued pieces to a safer place. There are also prearranged meeting places for any artwork that survives a devastating event that leaves you in a post apocalyptic world.

There is no doubt that arts effect on society runs deep but is often unexplained. There are many who believe the creation of such communication is meant for connection with future selves or provide meaning about the past that is relevant to the future. The value of each piece is noticed by those who create significant worth by paying attention to the piece.
