How To Safeguard Your Teenage Daughter

By Choran B Broks

During summertime, my child works at a neighborhood restaurant where her work schedule finishes at 10:00 pm. Our house is only twenty meters from the bus stop. However, the distance from the restaurant and the bus stop closest to it is a solid 2 blocks.

Even though she's normally together with 2 workmates on her way home, I still can't help but feel a little bit scared of what can happen. Thus, in order to keep my daughter safe from possible assaults, I searched on the net for products that could possibly provide self defense for women and teens.

While I wished to teach my own little girl the value of money by motivating her to work hard, her security is nevertheless my primary concern.

I learned about personal alarms from a colleague at work that owned one. She had always been saying to obtain one each for myself and also for my 2 teenage daughters. Not wanting to seem paranoid, I did not give thought to her urgings until I heard about a girl that was found raped and left for dead inside an empty parking lot.

Worrying for my daughter's safety, I ultimately ordered a personal alarm with flashlight for her. This can fit easily in a small purse or even in the pocket of a coat. It has a wrist strap which is connected to a pin. This pin, if taken out, triggers a 130-decibel alarm.

This personal safety alarm also possesses a flashlight, which is extremely convenient each time you are crossing parking lots or going into somewhere dark. You can even flash the light when you are under attack so that you can draw in the attention of passersby immediately.

When the alarming gadget was shipped to our residence, I gave it to my daughter and then oriented her on how and when to utilize it.

In addition, I called up the mothers of her fellow waitresses at work and encouraged them to purchase similar personal security alarms that would give personal protection for women and teens just like ours.
