Help Others By Donating Extra Diabetic Supplies

By Mari Zimplor

Anyone with diabetes is familiar with the many supplies needed to manage the diabetes. Blood glucose meters, lancets, control solution and diabetic testing strips end up taking up a big part of a diabetic's medicine cabinet. The testing strips are simple swabs of paper used to measure the amount of glucose in your blood sugar.

People with diabetes often end up with an excess of diabetic supplies. They might have extra meters, extra diabetic testing strips, extra boxes of lancets and extra tubes of control solution. Unfortunately, these items can end up in the trash!

Instead of throwing away extra supplies, these supplies can be donated and sold in order to help other diabetics! Meters, lancets and especially diabetic testing strips are needed by uninsured diabetics. There are several small businesses across the country that will buy your excess diabetic supplies.

You can keep your diabetic supplies out of the trash and help people at the same time. Your diabetic testing strips will go to a good cause. You get extra money and other people get the diabetic supplies they need.

Blood glucose testing strips are the most expensive and most needed. Blood glucose strips cost a lot of money when they are purchased at retail. The cost of diabetic test strips makes them hard to afford.

If you make the choice of selling your diabetic testing strips, find a company you can trust. Make sure they have a website and a solid reputation. They should have an easy way for you to contact them. They will also tell you what they can pay for your supplies before you mail them in.

In order to save time, have the brand name, the expiration date and the count of your blood glucose strips available. You cannot sell glucose strips if the boxes are open or expired. The more time left prior to expiration, the more value there is in your diabetic testing strips.

If your blood glucose testing supplies are taking over your bathroom, sell them for some extra cash. You will get your bathroom back and help diabetics too! You can get some much-needed spending money and other diabetics can use your excess supplies!
