Remembering the nice things about having long hair

By Fidel Castle

If you have had long hair for a while, you may be experiencing that new year's itch to change something and it seems people are always quick to recommend a hair cut. It can seem like the perfect solution. Long hair can get in the way and it can get tiring and look the same day after day. It seems short hair looks fresh and cool and people are quick to praise and notice a hair cut where no one really notices when your hair has grown.

So next time you are tempted to walk into a salon and tell the hairdresser to "transform you" and "just chop it!" have a think about some things. Long hair will never go out of style. It is timeless. You never have to worry about your hair cut being out of date, because long hair simply exists outside time and style.

Often people claim that short hair is "so easy" yet many short styles do require a certain amount of time and effort to get them looking just right. Yet long hair is relatively easy. Sure it can take longer to blow dry, but then that is usually it!

Men love long hair. Of course that's being a bit general, but a model friend of mine once told me that men will mess about with the short haired girl, but marry the long haired one! Now it's no reason to have long hair, but it's a nice one on the side! Long hair is wonderfully unique these days. With people constantly changing style, wardrobe, and make-up, it's not everyone who has the patience to simply wear her hair long.

It may seem outdated to say that men will prefer long hair, yet psychological and evolutionary research supports this theory. A so called feminist may jump at this accusing a woman with long hair of simply trying to please her man, yet how many women cut their hair short in order to look supposedly more "professional"? We should never change our hair to please our men or our bosses, but knowing your guy likes your hair long can be nice.
