Making Money On The Net By Generating Free Traffic

By Saleem Rana

Creating a website is always fun, but you will only begin making money on the net once you begin marketing it. Your next step to online success, then, is to drive traffic to your website.

If you have started to promote your website, keep your promotions constant. If you promote your site with enough persistence, you will eventually catch your audience's attention.

Ultimately, traffic generation is less about using a proven formula then about trying out numerous techniques to see what actually works for the business you're promoting.

There are many ways for your web site to be seen. Here are seven free website promotions you could try out:

1. Free promotions such as search engines and directories would give your website the traffic you desire. Make sure to periodically check your website's ranking to know whether or not this type of free promotion is right for you.

2. Link exchanges are a way to get traffic to your website.

3. Classified ads are a way to attract traffic to your website. Many websites allow you to post free classified ads. When placing classified ads, put them in the categories that your target audience would first look. Also use good keywords in the title of your ad.

4. Banner advertising is another way to get traffic. You can get free to low-cost banner marketing services. In addition, you can use pop-up banners when people are leaving to persuade them to subscribe to your opt-in offer.

5. Forums are an excellent way to bring traffic to your website. Your goal once you join a forum in your niche is to make friends and offer helpful advice.

6. Write articles and submit them to article directories.

7. Make videos and upload them to video sharing sites like YouTube.

If after you try out all these methods, or those you want to focus on for 30 days and still get no results, it's time to re-examine your website. Perhaps you are getting traffic but your website is not getting any sales. There are numerous reasons for this: from broken links to making an offer that does not appeal to your target audience.

Once you've had some initial success, then look for ways to do more of what is working.
