It locked up wile loading and shut down but the computer still showed it as installing so I had to restart my computer, did the same thing after restart. I went from taking pictures on my Droid to this little baby so it was quite the jump. I was just surprised how the quality of the pictures turned out so bad. Great camera for what I wanted.
Good price, nice clear pictures. It has a built-in owner's manual to some extent, but when we tried to initialize it following that manual it jammed up and wouldn't complete the function. I guess it's just a sacrifice for a more durable screen. This is what I wanted for backpacking, hunting and fishing when you can't always count on the weather here in MT.
I highly recommend buying the extended warranty if you get this camera. This camera has many positive attributes that should make it attractive to the casual photographer or videographer (or even to serious hobbyists who might themselves unable to schlep full size gear). The software takes time too long to initiate. So it's almost impossible to take a shot of an important moment we face suddenly.
I bought this because my wife and daughter both bought them when their previous cameras broke. I got sand in my previous Canon camera and it jams.
This camera has been an excellent buy. We needed a reliable point and shoot for our teen daughter that could be used by everyone else. We used it on our trip to Puerto Rico and it was great. The underwater shots and video were great. I haven't yet, as I decided to see if it will grow on me. To be fair, I am using my old Olympus as a baseline, so others may not have the same expectations. I thought I had bought an indestructible camera for my teenage daughter. This camera did NOT function out of the box.
Here are some cons just for your info; most might be adjustment issues since I'm so familiar with these cameras. And don't be discouraged you can always right more about the bad than the good. I really made points with my granddaughter on her 18th birthday. She picked it out on Amazon and is using it at the beach.
I received the camera I purchased 2 days after I ordered it and it was in the exact condition it was said to be in! This camera takes great pictures.
Luckily I purchased black tie protection on it from Best Buy so I don't anticipate any problems with repair or return. But now I am stuck on vacation without an underwater camera.
